On 27th November 2010 Voice Vision had a meeting exclusively for parents. The meeting was taken off by three members of the Parents Support Group (PSG), Mrs. Parthasarathy, Mrs. Jangam and Mrs. Tolpady. They started off with a recap of the sessions that have been held so far, and explained the works of the PSG.
They spoke of how the members of the PSG have been successful in rendering full support to two visually impaired children to get admission in college, and are still offering them help wherever possible, be it with regards to notes, aids that could help them progress academically, moral and mental support, etc.
The PSG also announced the reader writer campaign which they plan to start shortly, where the parents will visit the schools and colleges in their vicinity and spread the awareness.
After this short briefing, the floor was thrown open for discussions. All parents introduced themselves to each other and shared the problems that they have been facing and shared their experiences. It was a very interactive session where, both, the parents of a visually challenged child, and visually challenged parents themselves openly expressed their feelings.
All of the parents gained a lot of knowledge from this session and many solutions to commonly faced problems were sort.
If anyone is interested in becoming a part of the Parent Support Group, or may be just would like to offer your help and support in the campaign started by them, please contact us with your name and contact details, and we will get back to you.
