Self Defense: Be Alert & Be Aware!

On Saturday 28th January 2012, Voice Vision conducted an interactive session on “Self Defense”. Personal safety has become the matter of utmost importance in today’s day and age. Every individual needs to be made aware of the Measures and techniques to handle certain difficult, awkward and at times dangerous situations. Hence Voice Vision’s January session “Self Defense: Be Alert & Be Aware” aimed at providing tips and tricks on managing oneself when faced with such difficult situations. The session was an interactive and informative discussion headed by the two moderators for the evening, Ms. Upasana Saraf, a trained clinical psychologist, and Ms. Sushmeetha Bubna, the founder of Voice Vision. It was a wonderful session with a lot of experience sharing and interaction by all members. Various real-life situations faced by visually impaired individuals in day to day life such as, dangers while commuting, handling awkward situations in social gatherings, taking care of personal belongings while traveling etc were discussed and solutions to tackle them were outlined. Each and every member participated whole heartedly in the session and were extremely inspired and delighted with the outcome of the discussion. The session concluded with an announcement of Voice Vision’s 12th annual event which would be held in April. Special thanks to our co-moderator Ms. Upasana Saraf for sparing her valuable time and sharing her expertise with us. We also thank all the audience who were present at the session and openly shared their views. We also give special thanks to all the volunteers namely Chaitali, Lata, Shama, Magdaline, Achama, Suhas, Sanjay and the students and staff of Umedbhai Patel English School, who were really great helping hands. And last but not least, a big thanks to the authorities of Umedhbhai Patel English School who let us use their venue.
